Welcome to Snowmobile Cooke City - An Online Resource.
Cooke City is a small mountain community located in a small valley in the Absaroka - Beartooth Mountains of extreme south central Montana. We are just 4 miles from the NE entrance to Yellowstone National Park. In the summer time we are packed with visitors coming in and out of the nation's first National Park, BUT, in the winter that all changes.
Although Yellowstone's Lamar Valley is becoming a more and more popular wintertime wildlife destination, Cooke's main winter pastime is still snowmobiling.
We are constantly ranked very high overall by Snowest's 'Guide to Western Snowmobiling'. We are almost always ranked at the top for our extreme terrain and our snow. We have some of the best hillclimbing in the west. If you want to test your manhood or maybe just your horsepower give us a try. Cooke City receives an average of 500 inches of snow depth a year. This all creates a sledders paradise. For those of you who know the area you can attest to this. For those who dont and are thinking of visiting, maybe this site will help sway you.
Arctic Cat, Yamaha, Polaris, or Ski-Doo riders, you are all welcome here ;) We have full service dealers in town, for all brands, who are ready to help. There are two gas stations in town as well. You can buy 110 gas in town. You can refill N20 (nitrous) in town. You can rent or purchase avalanche survival equipment like beacons, shovels, and probes in town.
There are 2 bars open in the winter for your nighttime rest and relaxation. There are many options for quality lodging.
This town is full of people who support your sport, its our sport too.
